The niche graphs of interval orders

چکیده
The niche graph of a digraph D is the (simple undirected) graph which has the same vertex set as D and has an edge between two distinct vertices x and y if and only if N D (x)∩N + D (y) 6= ∅ or N − D (x)∩ N D (y) 6= ∅, where N + D (x) (resp. N − D (x)) is the set of out-neighbors (resp. in-neighbors) of x in D. A digraph D = (V,A) is called a semiorder (or a unit interval order) if there exist a real-valued function f : V → R on the set V and a positive real number δ ∈ R such that (x, y) ∈ A if and only if f(x) > f(y) + δ. A digraph D = (V,A) is called an interval order if there exists an assignment J of a closed real interval J(x) ⊂ R to each vertex x ∈ V such that (x, y) ∈ A if and only if min J(x) > maxJ(y). S. -R. Kim and F. S. Roberts characterized the competition graphs of semiorders and interval orders in 2002, and Y. Sano characterized the competition-common enemy graphs of semiorders and interval orders in 2010. In this note, we give characterizations of the niche graphs of semiorders and interval orders.

The niche graphs of doubly partial orders
The competition graph of a doubly partial order is known to be an interval graph. The competition-common enemy graph of a doubly partial order is also known to be an interval graph unless it contains a cycle of length 4 as an induced subgraph. In this paper, we show that the niche graph of a doubly partial order is not necessarily an interval graph. In fact, we prove that, for each n ≥ 4, there...
متن کاملCubic symmetric graphs of orders $36p$ and $36p^{2}$
A graph is textit{symmetric}, if its automorphism group is transitive on the set of its arcs. In this paper, we classifyall the connected cubic symmetric graphs of order $36p$ and $36p^{2}$, for each prime $p$, of which the proof depends on the classification of finite simple groups.
متن کاملThe phylogeny graphs of double partial orders
The competition graph of a doubly partial order is known to be an interval graph. The CCE graph and the niche graph of a doubly partial order are also known to be interval graphs if the graphs do not contain a cycle of length four and three as an induced subgraph, respectively. Phylogeny graphs are variant of competition graphs. The phylogeny graph P (D) of a digraph D is the (simple undirected...
متن کاملThe Recognition of Simple-Triangle Graphs and of Linear-Interval Orders Is Polynomial
Intersection graphs of geometric objects have been extensively studied, both due to their interesting structure and their numerous applications; prominent examples include interval graphs and permutation graphs. In this paper we study a natural graph class that generalizes both interval and permutation graphs, namely simple-triangle graphs. Simple-triangle graphs – also known as PI graphs (for ...
متن کاملNew Perspectives on Interval Orders and Interval Graphs
Interval orders and interval graphs are particularly natural examples of two widely studied classes of discrete structures: partially ordered sets and undirected graphs. So it is not surprising that researchers in such diverse fields as mathematics, computer science, engineering and the social sciences have investigated structural, algorithmic, enumerative, combinatorial, extremal and even expe...
